Piper Kerman Humanist Award

Piper Kerman, author of the popular book Orange is the New Black, speaks at the Science Center after receiving the Humanist Heroine of the Year Award. She talked about the difficulties marginalized men and women face in prisons and after they are released, and said, "If we found a way to end those marginalizations, to bring people back into the heart of the community...we would be far less reliant on prison and jail cells."
